Flow outline
Told To Leave, They Get In Your Face
- A drunk patron says "Make me" and gets in your face when told to leave.
- From Shintaro Higashi (@judoshintaronyc), judo coral belt, 2x World Team member and BJJ black belt, in the video "Best Judo Takedowns for Bouncers".
- Reaction: they almost 90% of the time say "Make me"
- Reaction: they get in your face
Lead Leg Stance
- They lead with their left leg because most people are right-handed.
- Reaction: usually they lead with their left leg
- Reaction: most people are right-handed
Chest To Chest Stance
- Get chest to chest in a defensive stance, thinking about where your hip is relative to your opponent.
- Position: chest to chest
- Awareness: thinking about where your hip is relative to your opponent
Shove And Foot Sweep (De Ashi)
- Shove, then foot sweep and clip them when the weight shifts off that front leg.
- Timing: when you crowd him and the weight shifts off that front leg
- Finish: you just clip it
- Variation: sometimes you bring it across, sometimes okuri ashi barai
Catch The Head
- As he falls, cradle his head down to the floor to prevent him hitting his head.
- The idea Taking out his feet is dangerous because they can hit their head, so you cradle the head as he falls.
- Safety: clip it and then catch the head
- Finish: cradle his head down to the floor
Osoto Follow-Up
- If the foot sweep didn't work, use a regular osoto from chest-to-chest and make sure he can't free his head.
- The idea Because it's chest-to-chest, the fallback is a regular osoto kind of throw.
- Position: chest-to-chest
- Control: make sure that he can't free his head
- Finish: throw him and take him down, cradling his head
Body Lock Walk Out
- Close the distance and body lock him to take him out and walk him out.
- The idea Greco-Roman is very useful when dealing with people with no experience.
- Entry: close the distance and then kind of body lock
- Finish: take him out, and walk him out
Branch conditions
- when they get in your face
- then get chest to chest
- when you crowd him and weight shifts
- as he's falling
- if that didn't work
- if they come at you
