Closed Guard Troubleshooter

If they sit high, here are your options! If THEY sit low, different counters. When they stand, you know exactly what to do.

  1. Closed Guard Bottom

    • usually you're in closed guard. your opponent will either sit high or sit low. if they stand up, you have immediate counters to maintain dominance
  2. Mount

    • From here, You've achieved Mount. From here, maintain control and work toward submissions or positional advancement
  3. Closed Guard

    • From here, you're back in closed guard. reset and look for your next opportunity based on your opponent's posture
  4. Triangle

    • If it shows up, You've secured a Triangle. If they defend by putting out their arm, transition to an Armbar. If they don't defend properly, finish Triangle. Angle matters
  5. Mount

    • When it happens, You've achieved Mount from a Straight Hip Bump. Maintain pressure and look for submission opportunities
  6. Mount

    • You've swept to Mount using Scissor Sweep. Establish control and work your top game
  7. Guillotine

    • Quick note: You've caught a Guillotine from when they sit low. Secure grip and finish or transition based on their defense
  8. Triangle

    • If they frame, when it happens, you've secured a triangle position. control their head and arm, then work to finish or transition to other submissions
  9. Armbar

    • You've transitioned to an Armbar from Triangle. If they defend by grabbing their own wrist, apply a Wristlock. If not, finish Armbar
  10. Wristlock

    • Most of the time You've applied a Wristlock from Armbar defense. Maintain control of wrist and apply pressure to finish
  11. Kimura

    • When it happens, You've secured a Kimura from when they put out their arm after a Hip Bump. Control shoulder and finish or sweep. Timing over strength
  12. Kimura

    • You've caught a Kimura when they put out their arm while sitting low. Secure grip and work for finish or sweep
  13. Mount

    • From here, You've achieved Mount by pushing over a standing opponent. Establish control and work your top game. Timing over strength
  14. Open Guard

    • Often You've transitioned to Open Guard after releasing when they didn't fall. Use your legs to control distance and set up attacks
  15. Closed Guard
