How to dominate from the guard by controlling scrambles and applying constant pressure

  4. Opponent In Base Position

    • they've established a solid base in your guard. time to work your grips and start chipping away at their structure. control the sleeves, break their posture, and look for the elbow across the center - that's your entry point
  5. Side Scissor

    • You've secured the side scissor position - now you're controlling their posture and limiting their movement. From here, you can work sweeps or transition to submissions while maintaining top pressure in the scramble
  6. No Reaction From Opponent

    • Often They're frozen or hesitant - perfect. You've got the elbow post and head position advantage. Now drive forward with your pressure and force them to make a mistake you can capitalize on
  7. Opponent Head Higher

    • Once set, most of the time they're trying to posture up and create space. exposes their balance - time to hit your sweeps. choose based on their weight distribution and grip fighting
  8. Flower Sweep

    • Classic pressure sweep. Trap the arm, control the leg, and use your hips to roll them over. Finish in top control and immediately set pressure
  9. Pendulum Sweep

    • When they're posting with one hand, hook the leg and swing them over. Control the scramble and come up in top position ready to apply pressure
  10. Knee Lever Sweep

    • Key detail: use your knee as a lever against their thigh or hip. creates off-balancing pressure that allows you to sweep and set top control
  11. Hook Sweep

    • Deep hook on the leg, off-balance, and use your pressure to roll them. keep control through the scramble and secure top position
  12. Hook Sweep Variation
