Leg Lock Blueprint

Specialist's approach to leg attacks & positional control. Lower body submissions integrated into a broader positional game.

Flow outline

  1. Position

    • Most of the time The starting point of all engagements. From here, set control and begin hunting for leg entanglements. Every position is an opportunity to attack the lower body
  2. Mount

    • Usually High-percentage position for controlling the upper body while setting up leg attacks. From here, you can transition to knee bars or isolate the legs for heel hook setups
  3. Side Control

    • If they frame, quick note: excellent control position for isolating one leg. keep heavy pressure while working to expose the knee line for attacks. the cross-face and underhook control are crucial for leg entanglements. switch if it stalls
  4. Knee Mount

    • Direct access to the legs. From here, you can attack immediate knee bars or transition to leg drags and heel hook positions. keep heavy pressure on the hips to control movement
  5. Closed Guard

    • Key detail: quick note: the foundation of defensive play with offensive leg lock opportunities. use closed guard to control distance and set up sweeps that lead to leg entanglements. from bottom, attack with triangle setups that transition to leg locks. don’t force it
  6. Bottom Mount

    • Defensive position where survival is priority. Bridge and shrimp to create space, then look for leg entanglements or transitions to half guard. Protect your legs while attacking theirs
  7. Top Mount

    • From here, Dominant position for finishing upper body submissions while setting up leg attacks. Control the hips and work to isolate one leg for knee bars or transition to S-mount for heel hooks. Timing beats strength
  8. Bottom Side Control

    • From here, Defend against pressure while looking for leg entanglements. Frame and create space to recover guard or attack with knee shield entries to leg locks
  9. Top Side Control

    • Often keep heavy pressure while isolating one leg. Work to pass the legs into north-south or knee-on-belly positions that lead directly to leg attacks
  10. Bottom Closed Guard

    • Usually Attack with sweeps that transition directly into leg locks. Use hip movement to off-balance and create openings for heel hook entries. Control the distance and attack the legs whenever possible. Angle matters
  11. Top Closed Guard

    • If it shows up, Break the guard and immediately attack the legs. Use posture control to pass to knee-on-belly or mount while looking for leg entanglement opportunities
  12. Bottom Knee Mount

    • If they frame, if it shows up, defend against knee bar attacks while looking to recover guard. bridge and shrimp to create space, then attack with leg entanglements or transitions to half guard
  13. Top Knee Mount

    • Attack immediate knee bars or transition to mount for more control. keep heavy pressure on the hips while isolating one leg for submission attempts. Angle matters
