Ben Zee's Limp Leg Single Leg Defense
Ben Zee (@coachbz) shows a limp leg series for single leg defense: frame, whizzer and hand fight, circle the leg out, push the head, and knee slide out when they get the shoelace grip. From the video: https://youtu.be/Vzf1NMC1DwQ
Flow outline
Frame And Hand Fight
- When they pick up your leg, do these at once: frame, put your head in position, whizzer, and hand fight.
- From Ben Zee (@coachbz), in the video "Single Leg Defense: Limp Leg Series."
- Frame: get your frame in as they pick up the leg
- Head Position: put your head in position
- Grip: hand fight and attack the hands
- Grip: the whizzer is part of the hand fight
Circle Leg Out
- Circle your leg out to the side, pull weight, and stomp.
- Leg Path: circle the leg out to the side
- Weight: pull your weight and stomp
Lift And Kick Free
- Lift your knee, kick out, and keep your frame as they come up.
- Checkpoint: lift your knee to free it
- Frame: keep your frame as they come up
Push Head And Step Out
- Push the head with a thumb post to the neck, lift your knee, step out, and frame.
- Grip: thumb post the neck to push the head
- Leg Path: lift your knee and step out
Turn Hip And Run
- When you push, lift your knee, turn your hip, and run.
- Hip Line: turn your hip as you lift the knee
- Timing: once your knee is out, turn and run
- Leg Path: knee and run, heel to the butt
High Crotch Defense
- If they are in on a high crotch, bump them and move their head to the inside. That turns it into a single leg, then lift your knee and get out.
- Head Position: bump them and move their head to the inside
- Reaction: moving the head turns it into a single leg, then lift your knee and you are out
Turn In And Sprawl
- If you turn away you bundle your own knees and get taken down. Turn into them a little, hip in, and sprawl.
- Reaction: turning away bundles your own knees and gets you taken down
- Hip Line: turn into them a little and hip in
Strip The Grip
- Reach down and strip their grip on your leg.
- Grip: reach down and strip the grip
- Reaction: they usually break your grip and go to the single
Push Away And Cup Head
- When your head is not coming back in position, push away and cup their head down as they bring it in.
- Reaction: their head is like a wall when you try to move it
- Timing: cup the head down as they bring it into you
- Leg Path: once your knee is out, turn the hip and take your leg to the outside if you can
Knee Slide Escape
- When they lace the grip on your shoelaces, knee slide to slip your leg out.
- Grip: they lace your shoelaces so you cannot just pull the leg out
- Checkpoint: you have to knee slide, not just pull the leg out
- Weight: put weight in and hop to slip the leg out
Heel Through The Hole
- As soon as your heel makes it through the hole, lift and curl to slip the leg out.
- Leg Path: as soon as your heel makes it through the hole, lift
- Finish: curl to complete the slip
- Key detail It is the same idea as a heel hook escape.
